Therapeutic Gardening

My Garden Space facilitates therapeutic gardening with individuals or groups to promote physical social and mental wellbeing through individual or community gardening programs. Programs can be developed to facilitate an individual reaching their goals such as development of social skills, self-confidence and fine and gross motor skills. The program can incorporate mindfulness to assist individuals in managing their emotional regulation as well as addressing anxiety and depression.

Designing Therapeutic Green Spaces

My Garden Space provides consulting services to assist in the planning and design of therapeutic gardens and green spaces. Projects may include transforming contained indoor spaces into green tranquil areas for staff respite, or perhaps integrating outdoor sensory gardens into multi-use playground spaces for children… or something else altogether… chat to us about your exicting design project.

Social/Companion Gardening

The aim of this service is to come alongside individuals who would benefit from additional support with their gardening due to limited physical mobility or cognitive impairment. My Garden Space social / companion gardening promotes well-being by facilitating a person’s engagement in outdoor/gardening activities and social engagement.

Horticultural Therapy

Horticultural therapy is undertaken when working with an individual or a group to reach goals. Horticultural therapy can include counselling to promote positive mental health.

Where appropriate, My Garden Space therapists utilise a care team approach which entails working with participants and their informal/formal supports which may include carers, allied health and medical professionals to develop and implement a therapeutic plan. Goals may cover development in the following areas: Mental wellbeing, social skills, gross and minor motor skills, gardening skills, emotional regulation, managing depression and anxiety.

Disability Services

Specialised Support

My Garden Space provides specialised in-home/community support through a structured program using gardening activities to engage with individuals and facilitate community, civic and social engagement. Specialised support can promote wellbeing for an individual and can be utilised as a form of respite for carers. This is an ‘all abilities’ program which provides tailored aged and disability services.

Community development projects

My Garden Space provides consultation and programs for educational settings and a broad range of community groups including aged-care, and interest groups.

The facilitator will seek engagement from key stakeholders in the development and implementation of the project and provide guidance to the community in ongoing maintenance once the project is running.
